Copenhagen Climate Change Conference Day 1 ~ Ryan Sullivan

A Chilly and damp misty morning metro ride into town to attend the opening ceremonies of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen Denmark. After queuing up for approximately three hours we received our security pass, our unlimited metro pass for the duration of the conference and our photo identification taken. While in line I had the chance to speak a high ranking Greek official, learn a Danish dance all while thumping to the music made from Greenpeace on rain barrels.

The atmosphere was full of excitement, optimism, nervousness, concern, passion, music and individuals from all over the entire planet from every walk of life. It was at this point I realised “This is going to be a once in a lifetime learning experience for us all”.After walking around the Bella Center and getting a general layout of where all the events, presentations, Pavilions and most importantly the café’s for our coffee we decided to head back to the flat. The other Canadian delegates and I had a nice relaxing dinner with a local bottle of red from France and discussed the future activities we would take place in during the conference.

To bed as Tuesday Day 2 will be a long one. Goodnight
